Testimonials from past and present clients and riders
We are so fortunate to have Marie Boyd in Northern California to train our beloved Missouri Foxtrotters. It is not an easy task as most of us know firsthand, to have a consistant and correct gait in our foxtrotters. She is knowledgable in the use of different bits for your horse and will tell you what works and what doesn't. What I have noticed about Marie's training versus others is that she seems to have a fine tuned ability to see things in the horse and rider that minutely need to be changed that will make all of the difference. My horse Amo is so much lighter and consistent since she has been with Marie. Amo was brought to Marie's beautiful barn in Santa Rosa when she was recovering from an injury that the vet just couldn't figure out. As it turned out, Amo just needed to be brought back slowly and with alot of pasture and light work, she is completely healed. Today, we show in performance and are very successful in the show ring. Thanks Marie.

On Saturday May 3, 2014 Kim and I took our horses to their first Dressage of the Year. T.J' first show. Held at Dressage in the Almonds in Lodi, Ca. T.J. took a First Place with a score of 84.333. Wow. George and Kim took a second in the same class. The Class was for gaited horses. I would like to thank Marie for her wonderful training. I sent T.J. to Marie, with a bad attitude and very sore muscles. ( T.J. had the bad attitude not Marie!) She worked on T.J.'s attitude by finding out what was missing in her diet, putting her on supplements and having work done on her by a chiropractic doctor. She used her knowledge of Missouri Fox Trotter's to get her moving in her gaits. T. J was with Marie for 4 months what an improvement. Kim and I plan on continuing to work Marie and would recommend her to anyone, with a gaited horse. Big Big thanks to you Marie! we love you Kim and Maryland |
Marie Boyd has been my trainer for two years. In that period she has had my horse in full training which has improved his gaits and manners.
She has the wonderful ability to bring a horse to their full potential without creating additional stress in the horse rider partnership. She instills confidence in her riders and has excellent skills to support the development of young riders. In the two years I have known her, she has worked with me and my daughter on one of her horses which resulted in several Youth championships at horse shows. She is honest and fair and works very hard to support the rider’s goals for improvement. It is a great pleasure to know her, and I will continue to refer clients and continue training with her. The results I have been able to achieve with my Missouri Foxtrotters continue to delight me. Thanks Susan |
Dear Marie,
I am so glad I found you – you are such a gem. Your attitude with my horses has been so beneficial to their learning – patient, persevering and encouraging – combined with your expertise specifically with Fox Trotters. You have been able to do things with my horses no other trainer has accomplished. ‘My Little Amigo’, he was so strong willed and lazy, I was having such a hard time keeping him in Fox Trot and a Canter. He now does both with consistency and looks beautiful. Also, it’s so great to have him safely stand still when I mount and wait properly for his queue. Several other trainers had worked with him for over a year, to no avail. You miraculously made this turn around in 3 months. My other sweet horse, ‘Lil Bit’, is now a dream to ride – when I first got her I was having such a hard time regulating her speeds. In only a couple of months training with you, I now feel very safe on the trail – she’s listening and giving me whatever I ask. She’s the best riding trail horse now, that I have ever ridden. Not to mention how hard it has been to get her to stand still at the mounting block. She now does that quietly and perfectly, and is even better getting in the trailer. I have so appreciated that I can point to a problem and you just get to work on it with focus and in no time at all that particular thing is no longer and issue. Thank you from the bottom of my Heart. You worked miracles!! Kathleen Sims |
Dear Marie, I just wanted to send my thanks and appreciation for all your hard work and excellent results with Shadow. He came back to me after a month with you, a calmer, more respectful horse with more consistent gaits than before. I will not hesitate to recommend your training services to anyone I know who needs any kind of work done with their horse. You are one of the most hard working trainers I know, and the regular updates on the progress being made, as well as the kind words of encouragement, set you apart from most other trainers. You really helped Shadow get back on track, as well as helping he and I to become better partners. You are truly a gem, and so much appreciated! Thank you again! Melody and Shadow |
'I sent my Kentucky Mountain horse to Marie because I was having so many problems with her that I was seriosly thinking of putting her up for sale.
my daughter was taking her gaited Tennessee walker, that she also had a problem with and had heard so many good reports from people who had taken their horses to Marie for one reason or another, that I finally agreed to take Sugar and knowing if Marie could adjust her even a little it would make her much easier to sell. Well let me tell you, when we went to pick up our horses and I watcher Marie work with Sugar. I was seeing a different horse! Needless to say I am so happy with the changes in her that WHY WOULD I WANT TO SELL HER NOW!!!!! I Can't thank Marie enough and anyone out there that may have problems like mine; Running over you, not standing for mounting, flying out of the trailer and just generally rushing everywhere.... all gone.....and all this great training from a really nice nice gal.
