Meet Trainer and Clinician Marie Boyd

Thank you for visiting Irish Hills Equine!
My name is Marie Boyd and I have been involved with the Missouri Fox Trotting horse since 1987. I begged and begged my father for riding lessons as a child and what started as a summer pastime quickly grew into a love and passion for horses. I had an amazing mentor who I now consider family and I am thankful to her and her family every day. Without the discipline and knowledge they taught me, I would not be lucky enough to do what I love, for a living, today.
I am now the owner and trainer of Irish Hills Equine, I am the founder of the North Coast Horse Association and have served as the Region 1 director and board member
for the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association.
Improving my skills, knowledge and riding, as well as giving my clients and their horses the utmost respect and help
will always be my main goal as a trainer.
2023 will be my 36th year of riding, showing and then later training Fox Trotters and coaching the riders of Missouri Fox Trotters. Every day, good or difficult, I love gaited horses more and I strive to make a difference, to promote our wonderful gaited breeds and to support the owners, handlers, riders and of course the many amazing gaited breeds themselves. We welcome all ages and all skill levels. Our barn prides ourselves on our light, fun, upbeat atmosphere. We believe that having and showing horses should be fun, exciting and as stress free as possible.
In the early 2000's I began working with several types of horses and riding as many disciplines that I could - knowledge is, and always has been, my goal and I strive to learn as much as possible about horses and the fundamentals of training. I regularly take lessons from other disciplines, inside and out, of the gaited horse world, and there is not a type of horse I will not try or learn about.
2006 Was our first 'official' year for Irish Hills to be open for business. Now, 17 years later, we have upgraded to a beautiful, full time training facility, our client base is growing every year, our horses are doing well and we have had a blast along the way!
